Boy Scout Troop 236 serves Harrison City, Pennsylvania and the surrounding communities. We would like to welcome you to our troop's website and if you have any more specific questions, please feel free to visit us at a meeting. Our troop is focused around teaching our young men the values and morals they need to become outstanding citizens in our community and nation.
The meetings are balanced with skills training, leadership building, merit badges, rank advancement and structured games. Our belief is that information is best received over time and that Scouting is a lifelong endeavor.
Our troop plans a variety of activities throughout the Scouting year. Many of our monthly trips involve camping outings. We attend two religious camping trips per year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring. The winter months involve cabin camping at various camps in the area. In the past summer of 2010, we had several scouts attend the National Jamboree held in Fort A.P. Hill. This jamboree was one of the hallmark events celebrating the 100th year of Scouting. We also are a troop involved in backpacking and high adventure. We have completed weekend treks in the Fall and Spring on the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. Each summer, our troop attends a week long summer camp at Camp Conestoga in July. For the summer of 2011, Troop 236 is planning a long weekend to Washington, DC. We are also attending a Pirate game with several neighboring Cub Packs for the summer of 2011. Troop 236 will be working on some biking activities in the Spring along various Rails to Trails throughout Westmoreland County.
We have meetings most Thursday nights from 7 pm to 8:30 pm in the Social Hall at St. Barbara's Roman Catholic Church located in Harrison City, PA.
